Large Canton Porcelain Vase China 19th Century

About the Item

This beautiful polychrome vase is a Celadon vase made of Cantonese porcelain and originated in China in the late 19th century. It is 38 cm high (15 inches) and 12.5 cm wide and deep (4.7 inches). Canton porcelain, also called Cantonese porcelain, is a typical and characteristic style decorated in the city of Guangzhou. Guangzhou is the capital and largest city of Guangdong province in southern China. In the 18th and 20th centuries, porcelain objects represented the largest export produced in China. They were made, glazed and then fired in Jingdezhen, the prefectural city in Jiangxi province known as the porcelain capital because porcelain had been produced there for at least 1000 years. They were then taken to Guangzhou to be decorated with glazes, and finally sold and also exported. Drilled at the bottom where the stamp is located.
