Large Herman A Kähler Sgraffito Floor Vase with Cream Yellow Glaze 1940-50s

About the Item

Huge Danish ceramic floor vase made by Herman A. Kähler 1940-50s. The floor vase has a cream yellow basecoat with incised decoration where the color of the brown clay show. The technique is called Sgraffito. This technique was used during the Second World War and in the period just after due to a lack of materials and colors. The decoration is attributed to Astrid Tjalk and most likely her work Nice vintage condition with tiny glaze chips at the top rim and a crack on the bottom- see photos

    Wear consistent with age and use. Very nice vintage condition without repairs - see images of tiny chips in the glaze on the edge of the vase and a crack on the bottom.
