About the Item
Large ceramic vase designed by Danish artist Svend Hammershøi (1873–1948), produced at the renowned Kähler workshop in Denmark around 1920–30.
The vase features a bulbous form with a narrow foot and wide flaring rim. Its surface is intricately decorated with hand-incised organic patterns of flowing lines and stylized foliage, evoking the aesthetics of Art Nouveau and early 20th-century craftsmanship.
It is finished in a luminous yellow uranium glaze – a signature of the period – which gives the piece a subtle depth and warm glow under natural light. Uranium glazes were prized at the time for their vivid coloration and were commonly used before the mid-20th century.
Signed "HAK" on the base for Herman A. Kähler, the founder of the Kähler ceramics workshop, this vase stands as a rare and highly collectible piece of Scandinavian design history.
