About the Item

An amazing and very sought after mid-century modern 1960s fat lava floor vase by the renowned West German pottery maker Üebelacker, also called Ü-Keramik. The company was founded in 1909 by Johann Üebelacker and until its end in 1990, it was famous for producing high-quality art pottery and ceramics. This is the large model 1485/50 (see photo of base mark) featuring a striking decor of rows of arches/leafs in relief. The middle section has a wonderful, shiny, green glaze, while the top and the bottom sections feature a matte white glaze. The inside has a glossy black glaze. A fantastic combination of contrasts; colors, textures and finishes. An authentic 1960s item that feels surprisingly modern. In very good vintage condition. No chips, no cracks or glaze damages. No other flaws. A collector's item. Dimension: height 51 cm/ 20 1/2", max width 24 cm/ 9 3/4", diameter top 16 cm/ 6 1/2", diameter base 17 cm/ 7". Weight: 3984 g/ 8.78 lbs
