About the Item
Wonderful unique head vase handmade by Bjørn Wiinblad in 1961. Decorated in polychrome glazed earthenware. Very rare and early piece by one of Denmarks finest artist of the 20th century and a Danish Modern icon.
Similar head exhibited at "Den Permanente", Copenhagen in the 1965 catalogue alongside furniture by Finn Juhl, Hans J. Wegner etc. (see image). Signed and dated by the artist.
For more than 50 years, Bjørn Wiinblad was one of Denmark’s most productive artists and recognised for his special, humorous lines, maximalist style and amazing colours. With his magical expressions, distinctive lines and vibrant colours, Bjørn Wiinblad is an unparalleled Danish design story. The whimsical faces and imaginative motifs of this multi-talented artist still fill homes and spaces around the world today with joy and energy.
