Le verre français "Pavots" art deco vessel by Charles Schneider

About the Item

A nice Le verre français "Pavots" (Poppy) art deco vessel by Charles Schneider made in Épinay-sur-Seine, in France ca. 1925. A powder mottled overlay glass vessel etched with a decoration of poppies, stylized in the typical manner of the art deco period. Looking like a coupe at first view, the opening goes down inside the stem into the base, so that it could hold flowers if the buyer decides that. It is hard to clean though and water stains, which are not there so far, may decrease the value of this collectors item. It has the engraved signature to the side of the base. This vessel is coming from the former collection of Christiane Waldrich, who wrote one of the first books on Charles Schneider in 1987. Consulting recent publications, its best to check "Charles Schneider - le verre français - Charder - Schneider", Joulin & Maier, Wissner, page 120 for other pieces with the "pavots" design.
