René Lalique topaz glass art deco Vase "Carthage"

About the Item

A good art deco Vase "Carthage" by René Lalique. Designed in 1930 and executed before his death in 1945. Marked with the sandblasted Signature "R.LALIQUE FRANCE". This particular example made in topaz glass would make a lovely addition to a selection of colored R.Lalique vessels, or could mark the start of such a collection. The classic design by René Lalique was likely inspired by the roman mosaics in Carthage. Carthage was the capital city of ancient Carthage, on the eastern side of the Lake of Tunis in what is now Tunisia. The vase is in good used condition with light scratches and a tiny fleabite to one of the birds that can be seen in the last picture. The model is published in "René Lalique 1860-1945 ... catalogue raisonné", Félix Marcilhac, les editions de l'amateur, 4th edition, page 449, N° 1051.
