About the Item

This unique ceramic piece is part of The Table Project, a collaborative art initiative developed in Madrid, Spain in 2024. Originally conceived by artist Isidro Blasco, the vase was later reinterpreted by Luis Salaberrial, known for his evocative aesthetic rooted in primal imagery and subconscious expression. In this sculptural work, Salaberrial depicts a theatrical character reminiscent of a jester or harlequin. Bold black graphics over a pale ceramic base bring the figure to life, exuding an enigmatic and narrative intensity. The gestural brushwork and frontal composition imbue the piece with a totemic presence, blurring the line between functional object and contemporary sculpture. A singular statement piece for interiors or a collectible object for contemporary art enthusiasts. Luis Salaberria Salaberria’s work draws from popular tradition and unfolds through open-ended approaches, playing with analogies and archetypal imagery. Embracing error and the unexpected, his process gives rise to fantastical figures and scenes that often evoke the feel of childhood tales. The Table Project The Table Project is an initiative by artist Isidro Blasco. From his studio located in the Carabanchel neighborhood of Madrid, various projects have been developed with the aim of creating unique artistic objects and fostering connections among local artists. Since 2019, The Table Project has encouraged these gatherings rooted in the artisanal traditions so characteristic of Spanish culture, but from a contemporary perspective. In this spirit of building community and creating one-of-a-kind artistic pieces, a space has emerged where multidisciplinary artists enjoy crafting handmade works within the context of contemporary art. The Table Project is Isidro Blasco’s personal project. After living in New York for 25 years, he launched this initiative as a way to connect traditional craftsmanship with vibrant contemporary creation.
