Mid-Century Modern Vase 'Haiti' by Bodo Mans for Bay Keramik
About the Item
A stunning and rare Bay Keramik floor vase designed by renowned designer Bodo Mans. The decor or pattern is 'Haiti' (1959).
BAY Keramik was founded in 1934 by Eduard Bay. At the early 1960s BAY was a leading manufacturer of art ceramics.
Designer: Bodo Mans was employed by the company from 1959. Mans officially retired from BAY in 1975. Since then he worked as a freelance industrial designer, painter, graphic artist, and journalist. He passed away in 2001. His work is highly collectable today.
Materials and techniques: white clay. Hand-painted abstract forms in yellow, orange and blue, contained within black free-form lines. The glaze is matte, with an eggshell texture.
