A fantastic vintage ceramic vase, handmade and design by Arthur Andersson, for Wallåkra Keramik, Sweden. The vase has a lovely color, a pale brown or beige color, with hints of mustard, simple but effectful glazing, with a speckled effect. It is the simple shape, with the fantastic color of the glazing which is what makes his pottery timeless a lovely piece on its own or as a group of other vases or ceramic objects. Wallåkra keramik holds world standard and works from this company is considered as one of the best mid-century modern Scandinavian potteries ever made. It is 12cm (4.72") high and around 11cm (4.33") in diameter, it is in a very good condition, the surface underneath is uneven from the production, all in all an amazing object and will be a centerpiece in any interior setting. The history of art pottery from Wallåkra. Wallåkra Keramik started in 1864 by John C. Billow and Carl af Ekström. In the beginning, household goods was a specialty, but soon turned to pieces of design ceramics, stoneware and earthenware. They succeeded so well after just a few years. The success can be attributed to some leading designers, artists and decorators included Arthur Andersson and Rold Palm. Their work is represented at the Swedish National Museum for Art and Design. As years has passed they are also represented at numerous museums in the Nordic countries and North America. It is made of stoneware and the texture is smooth, yet combined with an amazing harpsichord glaze, which gives a feeling to the vase. The colour is a pale chocolate brown, with some cream details.
