ABOUT JASBA Jasba Keramik, founded in 1926 in Baumbach, Germany, is known for its vibrant colors and unique forms, especially from the mid-century modern era. The company was established in 1926 in Baumbach, Germany, by Jakob Schwaderlapp, and "Jasba" is a combination of his initials and the town name ("JAkob Schwaderlapp BAumbach"). Celebrated for its "Fat Lava" glazes during the 1950s-70s, Jasba's ceramics featured rich textures in bold colors like fiery reds, deep blues, and earthy browns. Their designs varied from sleek geometric shapes to more organic, flowing forms, often incorporating relief decorations inspired by nature. The combination of bold colors and innovative shapes made Jasba a standout in West German art pottery, and their pieces, especially from the "Fat Lava" period, remain highly sought after by collectors today.
