Murano Italian Vase With Glass Threads Applied In Bulk

About the Item

We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Original and unique Murano vase made of violet-colored blown glass with transparent glass threads applied all over the surface. The process by which the Murano Master Glassmaker created this particular vase involves a combination of traditional glassblowing techniques and the creative expression of the craftsman. Purple glass obtained by adding a mix of cobalt and manganese metal salts to the transparent molten glass is blown and shaped by the glassmaker into the desired shape as soon as it leaves the furnace; the Master then heats the strands of transparent glass until they are malleable but not completely molten. With intuition and artistry, the glassmaker applies the clear glass strands to the surface of the purple vase in bulk but with great imagination. This involves twisting, coiling, or irregularly winding the wire around the vase, creating a unique and artistic pattern. During the process, the glassmaker uses tools such as tweezers and paddles to manipulate and shape both the purple glass of the vase and the clear glass wire. This resulted in a dynamic and visually appealing design. The glazier continued to shape and refine the overall shape of the vase, ensuring that the clear glass wire was seamlessly integrated into the design. The finished vase was carefully placed in an annealing furnace. This process involves slowly cooling the glass to relieve internal stresses and strengthen the piece, reducing the risk of breakage. Once the vase had cooled, the glassmaker engaged in cold working processes such as grinding and polishing to achieve the desired final appearance. Finally, the Master carefully inspected the finished vase and made sure that the imaginative application of the clear glass wire met his artistic vision; then the object was made entirely by hand and without the use of molds or patterns, thus creating a unique piece, just like a work of art. The vase was produced between 1980 and 1985 with unparalleled experience and skill by a great Murano master in a magical, fascinating, and artistic place: a handcrafted furnace in Murano. The object bears no signature of the maker, however, whoever the maker was, the making of this vase confirms to us that the Venetian aptitude, celebrated over the centuries, for glassmaking, is an alchemical combination of the material worked out by artisan intelligences with happy artistic intuitions; since ancient times Venetian artisans have been protecting and handing down the Art of Glass, always giving us valuable and unique works of art that fascinate us with their beauty. The vase is in good condition. Measures diameter cm.20, height cm.32. We use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
