About the Item

This exquisite early 1920s Nelson McCoy vase features the beloved Green Leaves and Berries design, a hallmark of the company’s early artistry. The piece is gracefully adorned with a raised pattern of intertwined leaves and berries, lending it a timeless organic beauty. Finished in a rich turquoise-green glaze, the vibrant color evokes the natural hues that define McCoy’s signature aesthetic. Nelson McCoy pottery, founded in 1910 in Roseville, Ohio, quickly gained prominence for its beautifully crafted stoneware and art pottery. The company became known for its intricate embossed patterns, nature-inspired motifs, and richly applied glazes, all of which are exemplified in this piece. The Green Leaves and Berries line, produced in the early decades of McCoy’s work, showcases the transition from utilitarian wares to decorative art pottery, making it highly collectible today. Although this is a well-known McCoy design, no maker’s mark is visible on the bottom—a characteristic not uncommon for McCoy pieces of this era. This charming vase is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It does display general crazing throughout, a common and expected characteristic of pottery from this period. Foam pads on the feet are present to protect the base and can be easily removed if desired.
