OKO Gold Ceramic Vase by Malwina Konopacka

OKO gold ceramic vase by Malwina Konopacka Materials: Ceramic Dimensions: Ø 19 x 42 cm It was first presented in 2014 as part of Tokyo Designers Week and has since had numerous re-editions and collection launches, all decorated and hand-painted by the artist. Its organic spindle-shaped form and trademark spherical depressions together with graphic patterns and colours pay tribute to history and craftsmanship while maintaining a distinct contemporary character. Malwina Konopacka - designer and illustrator, author of the OKO ceramics collection. Born in 1982 in Warsaw, she studied industrial design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and illustration at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. As an illustrator, she worked for print media and it was indeed her passion for illustration that resulted in the first OKO vases – born out of artistic curiosity that pushed the artist to examine how a familiar drawing would work in the three-dimensional world of everyday objects. The first object from the OKO family was conceived in 2014 and since then the family has been constantly growing. The OKO family consists of vases OKO / 2014, Teresa / 2018, Nana / 2018, Krystal / 2018, Irena / 2019, Miki / 2020 and Aniela / 2018 plates. Items are made and painted by hand in collaboration with skilled craftsmen and technologists. OKO is also the starting point for artistic and sculptural endeavours. The modular totems Mama / 2019, Hugging Mama / 2020 and Totem Forms / 2020 or the installation Fountain / 2019 are forms at the intersection of visual arts and design.

About the Maker

Galerie Philia Furniture

Galerie Philia is a recognized contemporary design and modern fine arts gallery representing world wide known designers and artists. The Galerie Philia exhibits a collection resulting from a rhizomatic research transcending formal, stylistic, national or historical barriers. The selected art works emanates from different cultures and periods, are incarnated in various and multiform mediums, and evoke multiple and changing interior worlds. The only criterion unifying this composite plurality is their esthetical qualities and the sense they convey. The Galerie Philia attempts in this way to build bridges between different artistic continents in order to enlighten art works endowed with a marked artistic depth.
