A Pair of Finnish 1950s Vases Model Orchidéa by Timo Sarpaneva for Ittala

About the Item

This is the Finnish sculptural pair of vases, model Orckidéa 3568 designed in 1953 in polished crystal glass from Ittala. They comes with a tower-shaped, tapered shape with a gently rounded top. A steam blown recess in the middle of the sculpture forms a cave like a vase, for example for an orchid flower. To the story goes that this piece of work never was conceived as a vase. Orkidea remains one of the most iconic designs made by the Iittala glassworks. From 1953, the year it was designed, it was produced until 1972.
