About the Item
Scarce pair of vintage Italian Mid-Century Modern Italica ARS large hand-turned Fine pottery vases. Bright atomic red glaze with wide rim on tapered body, ending in circular foot, marked Italica ARS underfoot.
Circa 1955-1965, Italy.
This particular pair of Italica ARS pottery is rare, highly sought after and hard to find, especially still together as a pair, as most have been separated over the years.

Largest: 11" height, 9.5" diameter opening, 5.75" diameter base
Smallest: 9.5" high, 9" diameter opening, 5" diameter base
These vases were hand-turned by potters working for Italica Ars. This pottery company began in the early 1900’s but in 1948 it became a cooperative of 24 potters. They were located in Lastra a Signa, a province of Florence in Tuscany. The company was liquidated in 2009. Throughout the years it's grown a large following.

An exceptional matching pair of exhibition quality bisque porcelain urns / vases, very fine French work, elegant Louis XVI style, finished with luxurious Neoclassical taste, the magnificent, richly decorated ovoid form antique urns / vases adorned in sumptuous finely gilded, chiseled and chased ormolu mounts.
Made in France in the late 19th century, having shaped rope twist handles rising above classical female mask mounts decorating the sides, bands of decadent gold-tone gilded bronze floral garland and ribbon draped laurel swags flanked by exuberant scallop-shell running ornamentation, complementing the matte white color of the bisque porcelain.
The waisted neck and slightly flared rim with simple decoration, the waisted pedestal base ornamented with stylized acanthus leaves in gilt bronze, leading to a cavetto square white marble socle encircled with stepped scrolling foliate festoon ornamental gilt...

Hand-crafted in the early 20th century, Czech Republic (Bohemia), the handmade ceramic candle holders executed in traditional Boho taste, with a reddish orange molten ground, richly detailed throughout with vibrant hand painted floral motifs, having bright colorful hues and hints of various colors including lemon, lime, lavender, cobalt, and sky blue.
Signed underfoot; the circular base underside with beautifully aged craquelure, stamped and marked numbering, and stamped with the importers Coronet trademark, which is a stamp of a crown inside a laurel wreath. Above the crown is written "Trademark" and below the Crown "Coronet." This trademark was registered to George Borgfeldt & Co., a major U.S. importer located in New York City.
