Pair of Louis XVI Gilt-Bronze Mounted Chinese Porcelain Vases

About the Item

This exquisite pair of vases features Chinese porcelain from the Kangxi period, dating to the third quarter of the 17th century, elegantly mounted in gilt-bronze from the late 18th century. The vases are adorned with scrolled handles that terminate in grotesque masks, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship of the period. Each vase displays a captivating scene; one side is painted with a planter from which lush foliage emerges, while the opposite side depicts a cockerel alongside a mythical creature, all set against a lattice-fenced terrace surrounded by rockwork and greenery. The vases are supported by square bases with canted corners, enhancing their regal aesthetic. This stunning pair is an exceptional example of the fusion of Eastern and Western decorative arts, making them a perfect addition to any distinguished collection.
