About the Item
A pair of great vases, by Ingrid Atterberg for Upsala Ekeby. The design is known as "Maris Krus". These are a signum of her work as one of Scandinavia’s most talented designer and ceramists, simple clean lines both in the shape of the vases as well as the pattern in the glazing. She is known for a design which is unassuming yet beautiful objects. Her work always holds a very distinct feeling, the patterns simple but they are often graphic, and the colors of the glazing are muted grey with hints of pale blue contrasted with a pale brown, which makes these vases just amazing.
The taller on in 28cm (11.02") high and around 11cm (4.33") in diameter and the shorter is 22.5cm (8.85") high and 9cm (3.54") in diameter, this one has a very small scuff underneath the vase yet overall are both in a really good condition. The price is for both vases and includes free shipping.
Upsala-Ekeby Ltd. was established on 29 January 1886, in Sweden. Upsala began with the production of bricks and tiles. In the 1910s, the company began hiring artists. Among the first was Anna-Lisa Thomson and Sven Erik Skawonius. The company’s ceramic manufacturing began in the 1960s in response to growing sales. The company now hired some of their best-known artists and designers such as Mari Simmulson, Arthur Percy, Olle Alberius, Carl Malmsten, Vicke Lindstrand, and Ingrid Atterberg to name a few. The factories closed in 1980.
