California design. Rare piece. One-of-a-kind. In the late 1940's, Gertrud + Otto Natzler made some utilitarian ceramics for a short lived company called The Guild. They made in limited production small bowls, dishes, ashtrays and wind-chimes et cetra.. Only a hand-full have survived. Unfortunately those pieces were not signed, but this one retains their classic paper i.d. (This was probably an experimental piece?) The numbers show that this is an early example. Typical wheel thrown form by Gertrud and glazed by Otto with fissure accents and geometric piercings. No chips, cracks or repairs. From the estate of the late Judge Joseph Wapner.
