Pierced Studio Pottery Lantern Gertrud + Otto Natzler

About the Item

A rare piece. It's not signed. That is because in the late 1940's, they made some utilitarian ceramics that were unsigned for a short lived company called The Guild. They made in limited production small bowls, dishes, ashtrays and wind-chimes et cetra.. Only a very few have survived. It does have the small paper with identification numbers. The numbers show that this is an early piece. This piece is a typical wheel thrown form by Gertrud and glazed by Otto with fissure accents and geometric piercings. It appears to be one-of-a-kind. No chips, cracks or repairs. It was found in Los Angeles at the estate of the late Judge Joseph Wapner. Great for collections or use with a scented candle for intimate / ambient lighting...
