Poët-Laval ‘Ondulé’ Glazed Pottery Vase 1960s

About the Item

Poët-Laval ‘Ondulé’ Glazed Pottery Vase, Poët Laval, France, mid 20th century. Like the famous village of Vallauris, Le Poët-Laval also is a little village in the south of France known for its studio pottery. North of both Montpellier and Marseille, the little mountain village has been known for its distinct pottery for many years. There were - and are - a lot of little pottery shops and pieces from this village are mostly signed ‘Poët Laval’ only. Our vase is also signed with ‘ondulé’, which means ‘wavy’ in French. It is not difficult to see why this vase would get the addition ‘wavy’, because the decorative upper rim is very wavy and playful. This rim gives this otherwise simply shaped vase a very interesting appearance. The rim dances like a delicate flower and leaves a very elegant impression. A joy to look at. All in all a very attractive and fairly large pottery vase from a renowned artisanal French pottery village. In great vintage shape.
