Rare Edmund Ronaky California Art Pottery Vase Signed
About the Item
This is a rare Edmund Ronaky vase made in California circa the 1960s. The bottom of the vase is signed. Edmund Ronaky was a Hungarian-born artist who produced ware for Jaru Art Products of California in the 1950s. The vase looks as if it was cut in half, halfway down the vase, and then pulled back together and resealed with his fingers. There are finger indentations where the seam meets and overlaps. The top of the vase was also pinched on one side to create a small one-finger wide handle that has a hole. There are several areas where the pot was intentionally scratched to create a design that reminds me of plants. The exterior and interior are glazed so it can hold water. Overall this is an impressive vase that makes quite a statement. I have yet to find another piece that matches this style from him.
