Rare Green Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase with Blossoming Iris Flowers
About the Item
A rare high quality antique Japanese, late Meiji period, Silver wire and enamel over copper vase. The amphora shaped vase has a narrow fluted neck. The ware is enameled with a polychrome image of blossoming Iris flowers on a deep green ground made in the Cloisonne technique. The base of the ware is adorned with a polychrome enamel foliage ornament made in the same technique.
The neck features a geometrical pattern made in the same technique.
Unmarked. Circa: late 19th century
