About the Item

William S. Mycock for Pilkingtons Royal Lancastrian Pottery, a vase in stunning gold and ruby lustre glazes, created in 1920 in the dawn of the Art Deco style. William Mycock’s gold and ruby lustre vase is emblematic of the high-quality lustrewares being produced by Pilkingtons Royal Lancastrian Pottery in the early 20th century. Mycock, along with Gordon Forsyth and Richard Joyce, produced stunning lustres for the firm that were eagerly received by the public. Created in the dawn of the Art Deco style, this vase also exhibits a Gothic Revival aesthetic which brings to mind notions of a romantic medieval past. Dimensions: 6 7/8 in. H x 3 7/8 in. Dm at opening (17.5 cm H x 9.8 cm Dm) Condition: Excellent. A few areas on body where the red glaze is smudged, from original production. Provenance: The Fortunoff Collection.
