Robert Maxwell Earthgender Signed Large Mid-Century California Pottery Vase

About the Item

A beautifully crafted, wonderfully designed, large Mid-century Modern California Studio pottery vase by famed California ceramic artist Robert Maxwell featuring a radiant pale grayish glaze and hand-painted flower/floral motif. Maxwell, who initially gained notoriety for his hugely popular and playful "beasties" and "critters" animal figures, formed the Earthgender ceramics company with fellow pottery master David Cressey. We believe the piece was likely made during his time at Earthgender. The vase is signed by Maxwell on the base. A quite large and commanding work. This piece would be a great addition to any collectors of Maxwell's work or Mid-Century pottery or be an eye-catching stand-alone accent piece in about any setting. A fine and scarce example of California Modern design. Dimensions: 13.5" high, 6" diameter.
