DIMENSIONS HEIGHT: 26 cm WIDTH: 16cm ABOUT ERIK HÖGLUND & BODA GLASSWORKS Boda glasbruk was founded in 1864 by master glassblowers Vidlund and Scheutz who previously worked at Kosta glassworks. During the 1950s and 1960s, Boda glassworks had its heyday under the leadership of the enterprising and far-sighted manager Eric Rosén, who in 195 hired the then only 21-year-old Erik Höglund directly from Konstfack. Höglund was given great freedom in his creation, which resulted in disputes with the skilled and traditionally trained glassblowers, who, among other things, did not want to hear about intentional blowing in the glass. Not many believed then that this young designer would become one of Sweden's leading glass artists. Höglund often combined glass with wood or wrought iron, and Boda wood and Boda wrought iron were founded as a result of Höglund's design. Over the years, other prominent glass designers have also been associated with Boda glassworks, among these can be mentioned Monica Backström, Kjell Engman, Signe Persson-Melin, Rolf Sinnemark and Bertil Vallien.

Börne Augustsson's artistry shines through in this Swedish Modern glass vase created for Åseda Glassworks. The vase features a striking violet, so dark that it appears to be black, casing beneath a transparent layer, with the latter expertly treated to create captivating organic pulled shapes. Notably, this vase bears an engraving underneath: "Fa W Johansson Orrefors 25." Despite this marking, it was indeed designed and crafted by Börne Augustsson for Åseda Glassworks.
