Scheurich Keramik German Mid-Century Lava Glazed Art Pottery Vase
About the Item
A stylish and finely made German mid-century art pottery cylindrical shaped vase decorated with applied lava glazed patterning by Scheurich Keramik and dating from around 1960. The vase stands on a wide round unglazed foot with slightly recessed base with the body of slightly graduating cylindrical shape with a stepped shoulder and slightly graduated wide funnel shape top with a slightly raised and everted rim. The body of the vase is decorated with black lava glazed patterning in low relief applied over a speckled orange glazed ground repeated to the lower body and the upper neck with a trailed white glazed patterning around the centre of the vase. The vase is glazed in brown to the inside with speckled orange glazes to the base with 215-18 and W.GERMANY molded in relief. The vase also has the remnants of an original paper label to the body marked Scheurich.
Provenance: Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market.
In good condition with customary light wear associated with age and use.
