Scheurich Mid-Century West German Flagon Shaped Art Pottery Handled Vase
About the Item
A very stylish mid-century West German art pottery handled vase in buff and brown glazes by Scheurich and dating from around 1960. The pottery was founded in 1954 and has been prolific in its production. This piece is based on a flagon being of tall narrow cylindrical shape standing on an unglazed foot rim with slightly recessed base and with a narrowing neck with a loop handle to one side with a ring shaped top. The vase is decorated in buff matted lava like glazes which have a textured and pitted finish with blue and white glazes run over a brown glazed ground to the lower body. The vase is marked to the base and numbered 407-20.
