About the Item
British art Studio Pottery by artist and sculptor Tessa Fuchs (1936-2012), produced circa 1982. Tess Fuchs was born in Chesire and studied at the Salford Technical Art School and then later, in London, at the Central School of Arts & Crafts. She stayed in London and began creating sculptural pieces as well as functional pieces such as bowls and plates showcasing her wonderful, whimsical and fun designs using bright colors and textural glazes.
The decoration on this piece simply magical - taking her inspiration from nature both animals and landscapes - there is an organic quality to the piece. A seemingly simple, humble form displays a decor exploding with bright, bubbly orange colored 'lava' glaze. The further organic hues of browns showing the design of clouds over the hillsides or mountains.
A remarkable piece of rare art pottery by Tessa Fuchs and a talking point for any home or collector of Studio Pottery / British Studio Pottery.
