Stoneware Vase by Erich and Ingrid Triller for Tobo, Sweden, 1950s

About the Item

Beautiful stoneware vase made by master ceramists Erich and Ingrid Triller. This piece was created at their workshop in Tobo, Sweden, 1950’s. Great condition, with a small white dot in the glaze (pictured). Signed on the base with their customary "Triller Tobo" signature. The ceramists Erich and Ingrid Triller were educated in Germany 1929-32, married in 1934 and moved to Sweden the same year. Together they ran the Tobo stoneware workshop in Tobo, Tegelmora in Uppland 1935-73, where they worked with turned stoneware with various high-fired glazes. Erich and Ingrid Triller's work was heavily influenced by the Bauhaus ceramics. They were also much influenced by the forms and glazes of ancient Chinese ceramics. The couple is among Sweden's leading ceramic artists of the 20th century. Their work can be found in various collections and museums including the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
