About the Item

An exceptionally large textured ceramic urn shaped floor vase. Semi transparent glaze on textured earthenware byy John Andersson (1899 - 1969) for Höganäs Keramik. A statement piece that works for both on the floor and on a large dining table. Perfect for branches of Magnolia or apple blossom! The area surrounding Höganäs in Southern Sweden, has a rich history of ceramics. John Andersson was only 13 when he started working at the highly regarded ceramics factory. He became Artistic Director of Höganäs Ceramics in 1924 and went on to dedicate his whole working career there. Signed and numbered with monograms from John Andersson and Höganäs Ceramics. Some small dents on body but not distracting and age related. Swedish, Mid century modern, 1950s.
