About the Item

Tall Scandinavian ceramic vase by Palshus, Denmark, model C15. Signed PLS for Annelise and Per-Linnemann-Schmidt (Palshus, Denmark). The couple created chamotte (danish clay) objects with impressed decorations. This vase is 17 inch tall (43cm) and has a weight of 13.23 lb (6kg). It comes in a deep "cobalt blue" Color. Per Linnemann-Schmidt trained the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1932 to 1935. In 1947, he and his wife Annelise, opened a ceramics studio under the name of Palshus in Sengeløse, Denmark. In the mid 1950s the workshop experimented with new clays and glazes, and in 1957 a new style was developed with a rustic chamotte body and incised decoration in simple, geometric patterns and high gloss glazes. The colors of such pieces varied according to the relative thickness with which the glaze settled onto the engraved surface.
