Michael Andersen, Denmark. Three vases in glazed ceramics. Beautiful glaze in cream and brown shades, 1950s. Largest measures: 15 x 8.5 cm. In very good condition.

Each vase is formed by putting a slab of alternating clays together before forming into a cylinder and sculpting to the finished shape. Before each firing stage, the clay is cleaned and smudges are sanded and polished away to create sharpness and definition between alternating clays. Many vases crack at some point during the process so this flawless three color vase is very special. Handmade nerikomi vase with three types of clay.
