About the Item

A truly unusual piece of art is this low disc shaped bowl or vase with a turquoise Raku glaze and fat lava hints towards the base. The ceramic base shows the deep charcoal black of the base material. Raku glaze has it's origin in Japan. The abstract and unique ''craquelé'' comes to life through the glaze being exposed to the very high temperature of a kiln immediately. Possibly Germany or the Netherlands, from the 1970s-1980s. The opening is in diameter 10 cm (3.9 inches approx.). Hand signed by the artist with dM or WP. Beautiful, very good condition.
