Two Antique Chinese Silver Mounted Enamel Incense Burners

About the Item

This duo of incense burners was produced circa 1900 during Qing dynasty China. Each incense burner is formed from silver inset with enamel in a truly remarkable and stunningly beautiful manner. The taller of the two burners is more ornate than the shorter. The taller burner stands on three silver legs, the legs partially enameled. The legs support the silver body of the burner, the body also enameled with beautiful depictions of birds and flowers above a blue enamel ground. The body is topped by two further bulbous tiers, each of pierced enameled silver, the top tier surmounted by an ornate feather-like finial. The burner is mounted with two handles, both profusely enameled. The shorter burner is similarly decorated, though not as grand as its taller companion. The enamel throughout both pieces is exquisitely executed, wrought into figurative compositions utilizing blue, green, and red enamels. Both pieces are hallmarked beneath. Measures: Tallest burner- Height 43cm, width 27cm, depth 15cm Shorter burner- Height 33cm, width 31cm, depth 17cm.
