About the Item

Unique faience vase handmade by Danish artist Bode Willumsen in 1946 at workshop of Royal Copenhagen, Denmark. The vase is modelled with an amazing pierced motif of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden with cylindrical inner vase. It is hand painted and glazed. The style is the Danish take on the Art Nouveau movement called "Skønvirke". Only 10 of these vases was made and they were each individually modeled and colored. Hand signed and numbered "7 of 10" underneath. The three waves is the logo of Royal Copenhagen. Bode Willumsen (1895 -1987 ) was a Danish Sculptor and Ceramicist educated at Bing & Grondahl in 1918. His father was the famous painter J.F. Willumsen. Signing artist at Royal Copenhagen from 1925 and onwards. He shared his own workshop and studio with friend and fellow artist Axel Salto from 1932 until the 2. world war made it impossible for him to get the materials needed.
