West German Mid-Century Pottery Red Lava Glazed Pitcher Vase
About the Item
An exceptional West-German mid-century art pottery red lava glazed pitcher vase dating from around 1950-60. The ceramic pitcher stands raised on a narrow round foot with a round bulbous body and shaped tall narrow three ring neck with a short funnel shaped top with small pinched pouring spout. A loop handle with a curled terminal is applied to the side. The pitcher is beautifully made and is decorated in bright lava red glazes over a black glazed ground with elements of the black glaze highlighting the rings and raised edging around the pitcher and to the handle. The base has a molded 7 digit makers number which we have been unable to identify. A stunning and very stylish interior design piece.
