About the Item
Ashtray in ceramic signed VM Albisola, Esa Mazzotti,
enamelled and decorated with luster
Origin: Albisola, Italy
Period: Mid-twentieth century
Author: Esa Mazzotti, daughter of Vittoria, was initiated, from an early age, into the working of ceramics by her grandfather Giuseppe Mazzotti, known as Bausin. Since 1959 he collaborates with his mother in the 'VMA' factory and, since 1985, he becomes the owner of the factory and changes its company name to 'Ceramiche Mazzotti-Esa'. Her husband Rinaldo Rossello and son Giovanni collaborate with her in the management of the factory. Source
Brand: VMA. Vittoria Mazzotti Albisola. The ceramic manufacture 'VMA' (Vittoria Mazzotti Albisola) was founded by Tullio and Vittoria Mazzotti, on January 1, 1960, in the premises of via Matteotti, formerly the headquarters of the 'MGA' parent company. The kilnsman and master polisher Mariano Baldantoni, Mazzotti's husband, Tullio and Vittoria's mother, Celestina and daughter Esa collaborate with Tullio and Vittoria Mazzotti, as well as the painters Rinaldo Rossello, Giacomo Raimondi, Pina Olivero and the decorator Rita Saglietto. In 1966 the manufacture took part in the exhibition 'Ceramiche Omaggio a NS di Misericordia' held in Albisola; the company also participates in the 4th and 6th Albisolese Festival and in the first editions of 'Rassegna 2000'. Since 1984 the manufacture has been directed by Esa Mazzotti, who changes its company name to 'Ceramiche Mazzotti Esa'.

(Murano, May 21, 1878 - Murano, April 15, 1947) was an Italian artist. Son of a Murano glass technician, Luigi, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. Intolerant of the late 19th-century verismo culture that he encounters here, he feels rather attracted by the stimuli offered by the Venetian Biennials that he attends, coming into contact with symbolist research and with the environment of the Viennese Secession. In 1914 he presented at the XI Biennale, together with the painter Teodoro Wolf Ferrari...
