About the Item

Airplane Cocktail Shaker Set J.A. Henckels Circa 1928 This extraordinary airplane-shaped cocktail set, crafted circa 1928, represents the golden age of travel and the Art Deco fascination with flight. Designed with remarkable ingenuity, the sleek chromium-plated fuselage houses a full cocktail service, allowing its owner to mix and serve drinks in style. Produced in Germany during a period of incredible design innovation, it was created by the renowned firm J.A. Henckels, famed for luxury travel wares. The plane's tail fin unscrews to reveal a large spirit flask that doubles as a cocktail shaker, complete with a built-in strainer. The detachable wings serve as hip flasks, while the tail compartment holds four shot cups, a funnel, a corkscrew and a stand. The undercarriage cleverly conceals four stirring spoons within the removable wheel housing. With its 12-inch wingspan and polished surface, this set is a gleaming icon of early 20th-century modern design. J.A. Henckels of Solingen, Germany was celebrated for precision craftsmanship and pioneering travel designs. Founded in the 18th century and internationally recognized by the 19th century, the firm produced an array of high-quality travel and picnic sets tailored to the needs of the modern voyager. This set is illustrated in The Cocktail Shaker by Simon Khachadourian. 5" high x 12 1/4" wide x 13 1/4" deep
