Antique English George III Signed Silver Mounted Horn Cup by J. Metcalfe

About the Item

A fine antique English horn cup. By the maker J. Metcalfe of St. Mary Bone Street. With a silver mounted rim and hexagonal plaque to the front. The plaque is engraved with an owner's initials of J.H. All in all, simply a wonderful English cup! Date: Late 18th or Early 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There are losses to the edge of the silver mount, there is warping and checking to the base of the cup such that it is pulled away from the cup's wall (and would no longer hold liquid), some minimal bug damage to the foot, and a large section of scratching or losses to the interior. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: J. Metcalfe Marks: Stamped to the base J.
