A Classic antique George II Georgian solid silver Tankard in a traditional straight sided design tapering towards a substantial domed lid. The Tankard has a large scroll handle and a scroll shaped thumb piece. There are three initials engraved on the handle.
Made in London in 1758 by William Shaw II.

John Langlands is fully documented as a silversmith and this was his first period (1753-1772) as he was later also in partnership with John Robertson.
