About the Item

Drinks Station Baccarat & Jacques Adnet Circa 1930 A rare and striking example of modernist design, this Baccarat drinks station, or tantalus, was created by Jacques Adnet in collaboration with Baccarat around 1930. Defined by its sleek chromed metal structure, mirrored base and geometric faceted glass decanters, the work embodies the refined elegance of Art Deco design. With its innovative lockable mechanism, this tantalus offers both security and sophistication. Three fabulous Baccarat decanters stand within the chromed metal frame, each showcasing the renowned crystal house’s signature faceted glasswork. The decanters, signed on the underside with the etched Baccarat factory mark, reflect light brilliantly, enhancing the mirrored base’s luminous effect. Jacques Adnet (1900–1984) was one of the foremost designers of the Art Deco and Modernist movements, celebrated for his streamlined aesthetic and innovative use of materials. Best known for his luxurious leather-wrapped furniture and avant-garde metalwork, Adnet collaborated with Baccarat to create exceptional works that merged artistry with utility. An almost identical design is documented in Jacques Adnet by A.R. Hardy and G. Millet, page 226. 8“ high x 13 1/2” wide x 9“ deep
