French liquor cellar late 19th century Napoleon III

About the Item

French liquor cellar late nineteenth, Napoleon III. This liquor cellar is an extremely sophisticated storage box full of ingenuity. It has a unique and authentic style. In order to give it its appearance, the artist selected on the one hand the pear tree, it blackened the latter, and on the other hand it raised the set of brass and mother of pearl. Thus the top is certi of carved brass and an oval medallion is inlaid with brass and mother-of-pearl. The liquor cellar closes with a key. The top opens in two tilting parts with a system to allow it to remain open. It also opens with shutters on each side. This allows its content to come out completely. Then we discover an elegant bronze display intended to serve alcohol. The interior of the box is made of rosewood. The liquor cellar contains four bottles with stoppers adapted to the carafe and sixteen small glasses. Fifteen glasses are in perfect condition. A glass has a defect in use. The upper part of the display is composed of eight identical flowered glasses. The lower part includes six identical glasses with inlaid commas and two other glasses with nets called the glasses of the owner. The lenses are easily extracted from their interior which helps to keep them in good condition. The case rests on four bronze legs in the shape of eagle claws which give it imperial desing and incomparable elegance. In the 19th century, the entire French bourgeoisie owned this small piece of furniture, a guarantee of a certain wealth. Today, it is a beautiful object of decoration that arouses admiration. It can however be used to taste fine liquors especially at the end of a festive meal.
