Grandjean-Jourdan "Faux Bois" Pitcher and 8 Mugs in Brown tones, Vallauris

About the Item

Grandjean-Jourdan was a prominent ceramic workshop in Vallauris, active during this golden age. The workshop was known for its craftsmanship and production of innovative, high-quality ceramic pieces. It produced both artistic and functional pottery, often reflecting the Provençal tradition but also incorporating modernist influences. One of Grandjean-Jourdan’s most distinctive series featured ceramics designed to imitate wood, particularly olive wood. These pieces had a unique design with a natural and rustic aesthetic, reflecting the Mediterranean Absolutely fabulous culture of the region. The color palette and glazing, in yellow, beige and brown earthy tones, enhanced the wood-like effect, making the series stand out compared to other works from the same period. These wood-imitating pieces were not only functional but also artistic and innovative for their time. Their signature "Vallauris" marks reinforce their origin and authenticity. Today, they are considered collectible items among pottery enthusiasts and design aficionados. Pitcher, signed Vallauris, 13w x 8d x 29h cm, cups 4.2 w x 5 h, cm.
