Pair of Antique French Oak Wine Barrel Facades, Chambertin and Vougeot
About the Item
Originally parts of a 20th century French oak wine barrel, this pair of wine barrel heads have been repurposed into facades that are perfect wall-mounted accessories for a bar room. Both facades have been painted more recently with appellations and stylized label of a wine vineyard. The front head (which is recognized from the fill used to cover the spigot hole) has been painted in black “Vougeot Clos blanc 1957”, while the rear head reads “Chambertin Grand Cru 1956”. A coat of arms supported by two unicorns above branches and a banner can be seen at the top of each façade, above the lettering. Our pair of French oak wine barrel facades are comprised of aged wood that still contain sediments of the wine contained inside, making them charming additions to any bar area.

- Period Gothic Oak Trunk or Chest Façade from Picardie France, circa 1550Located in Dallas, TXOften when centuries-old trunks did not survive the passage of time, 19th-century menuisiers (French woodworkers) would salvage the surviving wood and carve new furniture such as desks and similar trunks. The facade was typically the most ornate section of these antique trunks, making intact frontages highly valued antiques. Hand-carved from oak in Picardie, France, circa 1550, this period Gothic architectural is a beautiful example of an antique trunk facade that was not incorporated into a more recent furnishing. Picardie is a former administrative region in northern France that is home to many Gothic cathedrals. The Amiens Cathedral (mid-13th century) is the largest standing cathedral in Europe and is truly a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Our trunk frontage has five vertically oriented inset panels embellished with various forms of Gothic tracery, including high-arching niches...Category
