About the Item

Set of 5 Crystal Liqueur Decanters by Jacques Adnet for Baccarat French, Circa 1930 An exceptional suite of five crystal liqueur decanters designed by Jacques Adnet (1900–1984) for Baccarat, circa 1930, each fitted with a sterling silver collar engraved with the names of classic European liqueurs: Vieille Cure, Anis del Mono, Cointreau, Cognac, and Chartreuse. This rare ensemble exemplifies the Art Deco refinement and exacting craftsmanship that define both Adnet’s aesthetic and Baccarat’s storied production. Each decanter is individually hand-blown in clear crystal, featuring a paneled, lobed body with a rounded shoulder, an applied looped handle, and its original faceted stopper. The silver collars are engraved in serifed Roman capitals, denoting their intended contents with precision and an understated sense of luxury. The clean geometry and architectural rigor of the forms reflect Adnet’s singular approach to modernism—stripped of ornament yet rooted in classical balance. Jacques Adnet, a leading figure of French design and a frequent collaborator with Maison Baccarat during the 1920s and 1930s, brought to glasswork the same disciplined elegance he applied to his leather-wrapped furniture and lighting. This suite of decanters—subtly sculptural yet highly functional—embodies that fusion of high style and utility. Such sets were conceived for refined table and bar service, often housed in custom cases for yachts or travel, and would have graced the salons of elite Parisian collectors. Surviving together in complete and original condition, this group represents a rare convergence of French modernist design and Baccarat’s exceptional glassmaking tradition. Measures: 7.25" h x 2.5" w x 7.75" d.
