Set of Six Lignum Vitae Goblets and Six Coasters with Storage Box, circa 1960

About the Item

Set of six lignum vitae goblets together with six coasters with storage box, circa 1960. Six goblets of elegant simple form turned from well-chosen strickingly contrasting wood. Approx. 4" inches high x 2 1/4"-inches in diameter and six turned mahogany coasters, 3 1/2"-inches in diameter, with corresponding round lidded container for storage, approx. 4 1/4" inches high x 4" inches in diameter, even of a different wood, are well matched. The goblets are in excellent condition, only a narrow short split in the upper part of the storage box, slight split is from natural wood drying. Lignum Vitae is a hardwood found in the Caribbean and the Coastal regions of South America, considered on of the hardest woods.
