About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver bowl designed by Latino Movio in the Arts and Crafts style; an addition to our range of collectable silverware. This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver bowl has a circular rounded form onto a plain circular collet style foot. The surface of this solid silver bowl has a planished finish in the Arts and Crafts style. The body of the bowl is encircled with an impressive embossed and chased stemmed wild rose designs accented with floral, foliate and thorned branches; this work is signed 'L. Movio' - Latino Movio. This impressive example of antique silverware is encompassed with an applied moulded border to the undulating rim of the body. The underside of the bowl bears the later engraved presentation inscription '9.7.45 - 9.7.70'. This rarely found designer Latino Movio worked with Gilbert Marks and produced work for Johnson Walker and Tolhurst Ltd. of New Bond Street. Many have defined him as a modern master of silversmiths, to the same quality and standard as Paul Storr and Paul de Lamerie. Dimensions: Diameter of rim 10.1cm/4". Diameter of body 12.7cm/5".
