19th Century French Carved Butcher Block with Back, Cow Head and Chopping Knifes

About the Item

This antique "Billot de Boucher", or butcher block was crafted in France, circa 1890. The piece stands on fluted and spindled-shaped legs decorated with diamond shape medallions at the shoulders, over a carved three-side scalloped apron. The tabletop, made of mixed woods including maple and beech wood, features a carving station surface shaped from generations of use, and embellished with metal brackets at each corner; the station sits over two large drawers dressed with the decorative brass handle. The carved back from a later addition is decorated with volutes on both sides and decorated with a wooden cow head and a steel metal knife slot holder dressed with two meat cleavers. The butcher table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich light walnut patina. Place this charming work table in your kitchen or breakfast room for the ultimate Country French look; a true one of a kind! Two antique butcher Hachoir knifes with wooden handles included. Measures: 59" W x 24.5" D x 57.5 " H.
