Pair of Worcester Porcelain Shell Centrepieces

About the Item

A pair 18th Century Worcester Porcelain Shell Centrepieces, circa 1770, each modelled as six shells on a base of smaller shells and coral, painted with flower sprays within pink borders, topped with an Eagle with outstretched wings that acts as a lifting handle.

    Minor fading. There are cracks in the base and some of the shells, see pictures, but these are likely to have occurred when the piece was originally fired, showing the difficulty in producing such pieces at the time.
