19th Century Wedgwood Taza or Compote Earthenware Chinoiserie Pagoda Pattern

About

This is a very decorative earthenware taza or footed compote, made by the Wedgwood factory, circa 1875. The Taza is raised on a circular conical foot leading to a stem holding a square dished top with curved edges. The pattern is hand decorated over a printed outline, in the Imari style with a central pagoda surrounded by floral sprigs, flowers and scrolls, hand-painted in cobalt blue, yellow and burnt orange all in varying shades with much hand gilded detail and gilded rims. The base is fully marked with painters marks, an impressed WEDGWOOD mark, an impressed A and three letter date code of FFD, the D denoting the year of potting; 1875.
